Multihypothesis sequential probability ratio tests - Part II: Accurate asymptotic expansions for the expected sample size
In a companion paper [13], we proved that two specific constructions of multihypothesis sequential tests, which we refer to as Multihypothesis Sequential Probability Ratio Tests (MSPRT’s), are asymptotically optimal as the decision risks (or error probabilities) go to zero. The MSPRT’s asymptotically minimize not only the expected sample size but also any positive moment of the stopping time di...
متن کاملExact Power and Sample Size Calculations for the Two One-Sided Tests of Equivalence
Equivalent testing has been strongly recommended for demonstrating the comparability of treatment effects in a wide variety of research fields including medical studies. Although the essential properties of the favorable two one-sided tests of equivalence have been addressed in the literature, the associated power and sample size calculations were illustrated mainly for selecting the most appro...
متن کاملAsymptotic Optimality of Certain Multi - Alternativesequential Tests
It is known that certain combinations of one-sided sequential probability ratio tests are asymptotically optimal (relative to the expected sample size) for problems involving a nite number of possible distributions when probabilities of errors tend to zero and observations are independent and identically distributed according to one of the underlying distributions. The objective of this paper i...

The Ducci map applied to vectors in R is considered. It is shown that for any starting vector, the corresponding sequence of iterates either eventually becomes periodic or, if not eventually periodic, asymptotically approaches the zero vector. A precise characterization of which vectors exhibit each of these separate behaviors is given.
